The growing child may present with many types of pain whilst growing. Some of these are referred to as ‘osteochondrosis’ and present in various places within the lower limb. Some of the most commonly known are “Sever’s disease”, which affects the heel but also ‘Osgood schlatters’ syndrome which affects the knee. Musculoskeletal Podiatrist Derek Protheroe can assess and advise on the best form of treatment for these conditions which do eventually resolve with rest and activity modification. Other forms of osteochondroses are kohlers, iselins, friebergs and Legg-Calve-Perthes disease.
